YES: City of Boulder Ballot Question 2A & 2B: Community, Culture, Resilience and Safety Tax
The Community, Culture, Resilience and Safety tax has a valuable and measurable impact on the quality of life here in the City of Boulder. The money raised from this tax goes to support some of the key services that we all rely on, and to allow new community vitality and improvement project to move forward. Extending this tax is key to ensuring the long-term success of critical city infrastructure projects

Why Yes on 2A & 2B?
Hear directly from current Boulder City Councilor and former President of the BVSD Board of Education, Tina Marquis, on why this measure matters:
I will be supporting the City of Boulder’s Ballot Issues 2A & 2B (the Community, Culture, Resilience and Safety tax) that will make make the .3% CCRS sales tax permanent and increase the city’s debt capacity. I recognize that each sales tax we pass makes living in Boulder a little more expensive, especially as we continue to tax groceries. However, timely maintenance is critical for the city to function and avoid higher project costs in the future.
Fortunately, this is not new tax but an existing tax that first passed in 2014 and was extended in 2017 and 2021. Now, we are hoping to make it permanent to give the city more predictable revenue, around $15 million per year, to fund capital projects.
The city has a lot of aging infrastructure including recreation centers, transportation infrastructure, and city buildings that need to be maintained or renovated. Examples of past projects and a history of the tax can be found here: City of City of Boulder - Fund Our Future: Investing in a Better Boulder.
Second, the sales tax polled at 63.5%, indicating strong community support, whereas a proposed property tax polled at less than 40%.
Finally, up to ten percent of the tax can be granted to non-profits to help with capital improvements. To learn more about the granting process and recent recipients of the funding visit: City of Boulder - Community, Culture, Resilience and Safety Tax Grant Program
